Efficient esterification reaction of palmitic acid catalyzed by WO3-x/mesoporous silica

Tailor Machado Peruzzolo et al.

Summary: Different solid catalysts were prepared by impregnation of tungsten species on commercial mesoporous silica. The catalytic results suggested that polytungstate species formed on the silica surface may play an important role in the esterification reaction.

Photo-assisted electrolysis of urea using Ni-modified WO3/g-C3N4 as a bifunctional catalyst

Bohyeon Kim et al.

Summary: A Ni-modified direct Z-scheme photocatalyst (WO/CN-Ni@CF) was successfully synthesized for the urea oxidation and hydrogen evolution reactions. This catalyst exhibited excellent bifunctional photocatalytic activity and reduced the required potential compared to traditional methods, resulting in sustained hydrogen generation under stable conditions.

Characterization of the UV-Visible absorption spectra of manganese(III) porphyrins with time-dependent density functional theory calculations

Melinda A. Fodor et al.

Summary: The UV-Vis spectra of Mn(III) porphyrins show a strong red shift of the Soret-band and several extra bands, with the Soret-band involving a mixture of L-L and ligand-to-metal charge transfer excitations. The Q-bands and higher-energy bands correspond to pure LMCT as well as to ligand to metal-ligand mixed orbital excitations. The impact of water solvent on the spectral features is also discussed.

A P450 Harboring Manganese Protoporphyrin IX Generates a Manganese Analogue of Compound I by Activating Dioxygen

Keita Omura et al.

Summary: This research reports the successful translation of P450BM3 to Mn-BM3 which catalyzes the monooxygenation reaction of substrates, demonstrating the involvement of radical intermediates in the hydroxylation reaction and further confirming the generality of this reaction mechanism. Experimental and computational results indicate that the activation barrier of Mnporphine in the rebound step is higher, consistent with the experimental results.

Controlling the activity of an immobilised molecular catalyst by Lewis acidity tuning of the support

Philip Kenyon et al.

Summary: The performance of supported metallocene catalyst in slurry-phase ethylene polymerization can be significantly enhanced by tuning the chemical composition of the support. Productivity increases linearly with zinc content of the LDH support before reaching a plateau, indicating the importance of the overall Lewis acidity of the support surface.

Metalloporphyrin and Ionic Liquid-Functionalized Covalent Organic Frameworks for Catalytic CO2 Cycloaddition via Visible-Light-Induced Photothermal Conversion

Luo-Gang Ding et al.

Summary: A porphyrin and imidazolium-ionic liquid-decorated quinoline-linked covalent organic framework (COF-P1-1) was synthesized via a three-component one-pot Povarov reaction, followed by post-synthetic metallization to form a chemically stable and highly selective CO2 adsorbing metallized COF-P1-2 with good visible-light-induced photothermal conversion ability. The presence of Co(II)-porphyrin and imidazolium-IL within COF-P1-2 ensures highly efficient activity for CO2 cycloaddition, with thermal energy derived from visible-light irradiation. This research offers a novel approach for eco-friendly and energy-saving COF-based greenhouse gas disposal.
