Using Pithecellobium Dulce seed-derived biodiesel combined with Groundnut shell nanoparticles for diesel engines as a well-advised approach toward sustainable waste-to-energy management

Nagarajan Jeyakumar et al.

Summary: The study investigated the combined effect of Groundnut shell (GS)-originated nanoparticles and biodiesel from Pithecellobium Dulce seed on the performance and emission characteristics of a diesel engine. The addition of 100 ppm of GS nanoparticles to B20 (20% Pithecellobium Dulce biodiesel/80% diesel fuel) resulted in increased brake thermal efficiency and decreased brake-specific fuel consumption. Furthermore, emissions of HC, CO, and smoke were reduced for B20 and further decreased for B20/G100, while CO2 and NOx emissions increased. In addition, the combustion characteristics, such as in-cylinder pressure and heat release rate, were enhanced with the addition of Groundnut shell nanoparticles with biodiesel.

Static and dynamic mechanical behavior of intra-hybrid jute/sisal and flax/kenaf reinforced polypropylene composites

Deepak Kaushik et al.

Summary: This experimental investigation examines the effect of warp/weft orientation on the mechanical characteristics of intra-woven hybrid composites. The results show that combining jute with sisal and flax with kenaf improves the mechanical properties of sisal and kenaf based composites. The fiber hybridization and warp/weft sequence play a substantial role in the dynamic mechanical performance of the composites.

Influence of Parthenium Hysterophorus and Impomea Pes-caprae Fibers Stacking Sequence on the Performance Characteristics of Epoxy Composites

Vijay Raghunathan et al.

Summary: By varying the stacking sequence of natural fibers like Parthenium hysterophorus and Impomea pes-caprae, the application suitability of composites is increased. The mechanical properties and water absorption of the composites were enhanced using this method, making them suitable for lightweight medium load applications. Morphological studies using Scanning Electron Microscope provided insight into the fiber bonding and void characteristics of the tested composites.

Research on mechanical properties and durability of flax/glass fiber bio-hybrid FRP composites laminates

Zhengyi Liu et al.

Summary: This study assessed the mechanical properties and durability of flax and glass bio-hybrid fiber reinforced plastics (bio-HFRP) composites in harsh environments. It was found that the addition of glass fiber effectively improved the water absorption of flax fiber composites, resulting in increased flexural strength and decreased flexural modulus.

Investigation of Mechanical Properties of FDM-Processed Acacia concinna-Filled Polylactic Acid Filament

S. Muthu Natarajan et al.

Summary: In this study, Acacia concinna filler was blended with a polylactic acid matrix using a single-screw extruder to fabricate composite materials. The mechanical properties and fracture mechanism of the composite materials were investigated by varying layer thickness, infill density, and printing speed. The results showed that both layer height and infill percentage had a positive influence on strength, while printing speed had a negative influence. The findings suggested that the PLA/AC composites could be used to fabricate high-strength, lightweight components.
