Urbanization, renewable energy, and carbon dioxide emissions: a pathway to achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) in sub-Saharan Africa

Idris Abdullahi Abdulqadir

Summary: This paper investigates the sustainable green economy in sub-Saharan African countries from 1990 to 2019 using quantile regression. The study finds evidence of the Kuznets curve relationship between urbanization, economic growth, renewable energy, trade, and CO2 emissions. It identifies thresholds for urbanization, economic growth, renewable energy, and trade that should not be exceeded to achieve sustainable development and environmental friendliness.

Exploring the linkage between export diversification and ecological footprint: evidence from advanced time series estimation techniques

Shahid Ali et al.

Summary: This study examines the contribution of export diversification in ecological footprint in India. The findings suggest that export diversification reduces India's ecological footprint and establishes an inverted-U-shaped relationship between ecological footprint and economic growth. This important finding reveals that India can control environmental footprints by continuously increasing export product diversification, leading to a reduction in environmental degradation.

Aid for Trade Flows and Real Exchange Rate Volatility in Recipient-Countries

Sena Kimm Gnangnon

Summary: This paper contributes to the understanding of the determinants of real exchange rate volatility by examining the impact of Aid for Trade flows on real exchange rate volatility in recipient-countries. The empirical findings reveal that AfT flows have a negative effect on real exchange rate volatility, with a weaker impact on Least developed countries compared to NonLDCs. The channels through which this effect occurs include export product concentration, institutional and governance quality, foreign direct investment inflows, and terms of trade volatility. These results highlight the significance of AfT flows in influencing real exchange rate volatility.
