Heavy metals in daily meals and food ingredients in the Yangtze River Delta and their probabilistic health risk assessment

Jialu Jin et al.

Summary: Heavy metal exposure via food consumption is a matter that requires further investigation and attention, particularly regarding the contamination of aquatic foods with Arsenic (As) and Chromium (Cr). While most daily meals and food ingredients had heavy metal concentrations within acceptable limits, the levels of As and Cr present in some samples may pose potential health risks.

Study of controlled migration of cadmium and lead into foods from plastic utensils for children

Elizeu Chiodi Pereira et al.

Summary: This study investigated the levels of total cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) in colored plastic utensils and their migration into beverages and foods. The results showed that the mean concentrations of Pb and Cd in purchased utensils exceeded the permitted limits. Migration tests revealed that the levels of Pb in acetic acid, water, and orange juice were significantly higher than the allowed limits, while Cd levels exceeded the maximum permitted limit in acetic acid and water. The study also found variations in Pb levels between districts with different levels of social vulnerability.
