Regulatory changes of local produced prostaglandins in corpus luteum after experimentally induced luteolysis in the cow

Bajram Berisha et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the expression patterns and concentration changes of certain prostaglandin family members during experimentally induced luteolysis in cows. The results showed that the expression of PTGS2 increased significantly after PGF application, while the tissue concentration of PGF increased immediately after injection and again during structural luteolysis. In contrast, PGE concentration decreased during structural luteolysis. The mRNA of the FP receptor decreased significantly at 2 hours and 12 hours after PGF, while the mRNA of the EP4 receptor increased immediately after PGF application.

Summary: Adipose tissue plays a complex role in metabolism, including energy storage, glucose regulation, and inflammation. It secretes adipokines and metabolizes steroids. Research on dairy cows' adipose tissue has focused on subcutaneous depots, with limited knowledge about other depots.

The Complex Roles of Adipokines in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Endometriosis

Susanne Schueler-Toprak et al.

Summary: This review article provides an update on the role of adipokines in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis, as well as summarizes previous findings. The article also discusses the involvement of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes coding for adipokines and their receptors, the secretome of adipocytes, and epigenetic alterations of adipokine genes. Furthermore, the article addresses the notable effects of brown adipose tissue (BAT) on PCOS.

Adiponectin Influences FGF2 in the Developing Porcine Corpus Luteum

Rita Flores et al.

Summary: The study found that adiponectin influences pro-angiogenic hormones in the developing CL. The expression of adiponectin receptor AdipoR2 tends to be higher on day 7 and is more prevalently localized on the cell surface of large and small luteal cells. Adiponectin treatment affects the gene expression of FGF2, leptin, and AdipoR2.

Expression and role of resistin on steroid secretion in the porcine corpus luteum

Patrycja Kurowska et al.

Summary: The study found that resistin and its receptors exhibit different expression levels in the porcine corpus luteum during different luteal phases, and they can be regulated by hormones. Additionally, resistin can regulate progesterone and estradiol secretion by influencing steroidogenic enzyme expression and kinase phosphorylation.

The complex role of adipokines in obesity, inflammation, and autoimmunity

Erin B. Taylor

Summary: The global obesity epidemic contributes to chronic low-grade inflammation and disease pathology through the dysregulation of adipokine production. Adipokines play a crucial role in immune response modulation, with implications in rheumatic and autoimmune diseases.
