An updated insight on testicular hemodynamics: Environmental, physiological, and technical perspectives in farm and companion animals

Haney Samir et al.

Summary: Control of blood flow is crucial for testicular functions. Thermal environment stress negatively affects spermatogenesis. Assessment of testicular blood flow using Doppler ultrasonography is important to evaluate the impact of high environment temperature on testicular functions.

Seasonal Alterations in Testicular Hemodynamics and Echotexture in Relation to Semen Quality in Buffalo Bulls

Haney Samir et al.

Summary: The present study aimed to investigate the usefulness of pulsed-wave Doppler ultrasonography in characterizing testicular blood flow in buffaloes during the non-breeding and breeding seasons. The results showed that the breeding season had lower resistive index (RI) and pulsatility index (PI) values compared to the non-breeding season. The non-breeding season had higher pixel intensity (PIX) and echotexture heterogeneity (EH) values. Nitric oxide (NO) concentrations were higher during the breeding season, while testosterone and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) levels did not significantly change. Sperm quality parameters were higher during the breeding season compared to the non-breeding season. In conclusion, seasonality affects testicular hemodynamics, echotexture, NO concentrations, and sperm quality in buffaloes without altering testosterone and TAC levels.

Ultrasonography and computer-assisted assessment of postpartum uterine echotexture and its relationship with peripheral oxidative stress biomarkers in goats

Haney Samir et al.

Summary: This study used ultrasonography and computer software analysis to evaluate the postpartum uterine involution in 30 pleuriparous Egyptian Balady goats. The results showed a reduction in uterine diameter and an increase in uterine echotexture with the progression of the postpartum period. Additionally, oxidative stress biomarkers also showed changes during the postpartum period. The assessment of morphometrical and echotextural parameters, as well as oxidative stress biomarkers, provided valuable information in understanding the normal physiological postpartum uterine involution in goats.

Exogenous L-carnitine Administration Ameliorates the Adverse Effects of Heat Stress on Testicular Hemodynamics, Echotexture, and Total Antioxidant Capacity in Rams

Hossam R. El-Sherbiny et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the ameliorative effects of L-carnitine on testicular blood flow and echotextures, as well as the concentrations of total antioxidants and nitric oxide in the serum, during heat stress conditions in rams. The results showed that L-carnitine administration improved testicular hemodynamic disruptions in rams' under heat stress conditions by enhancing their total antioxidant capacity.

The Impact of Rumen-Protected L-Arginine Oral Supplementation on Libido, Semen Quality, Reproductive Organ Biometry, and Serum Biochemical Parameters of Rams

Hassan A. Hussein et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of oral supplementation of rumen-protected L-arginine on semen quality, testes, and accessory genital glands biometry in rams. The results showed that L-arginine supplementation improved ultrasound biometric measurements, semen quality and quantity parameters, testosterone level, and serum thyroxine and glutathione peroxidase concentrations in rams.

Pharmacokinetics and Safety of Intravenous, Intravesical, Rectal, Transdermal, and Vaginal Melatonin in Healthy Female Volunteers: A Cross-Over Study

Dennis Zetner et al.

Summary: This study investigated the pharmacokinetic properties and safety of melatonin administered by alternative routes of administration. Rectal and vaginal administration may serve as relevant alternatives to standard oral melatonin therapy, while transdermal delivery of melatonin displayed extended absorption. Overall, melatonin administered by these routes of administration was found to be safe.

Advances in applications of color Doppler ultrasonography in the andrological assessment of domestic animals: A review

Haney Samir et al.

Summary: The potential applications of Doppler imaging technology in farm animals are mostly limited to females, particularly in assessing testicular blood perfusion. Color Doppler ultrasonography plays a crucial role in evaluating blood flow to the testis in various animal species. Despite the significant studies highlighting the importance of TBP assessment, there are still limitations in routine on-farm application for breeding soundness assessments.

Effect of melatonin supplementation during IVM of dromedary camel oocytes (Camelus dromedarius) on their maturation, fertilization, and developmental rates in vitro

Mohamed Fathi et al.

Summary: The supplementation of IVM medium with 25 µM melatonin significantly improved the in vitro developmental capacity of dromedary camel oocytes, leading to enhanced maturation, fertilization, cleavage, morula, and blastocyst rates. Additionally, TAC levels were significantly increased, while MDA concentrations were significantly reduced in the 25 µM melatonin supplemented group compared to other groups.
