Precision Livestock Farming: What Does It Contain and What Are the Perspectives?

Joachim Lubbo Kleen et al.

Summary: Digital tools are increasingly important in livestock farming, particularly in dairy cattle husbandry. Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) combines sensors, algorithms, and interfaces to optimize animal production, health, and welfare. While some PLF systems are already widely used, others are still waiting for practical application. Scientific evidence on the effectiveness of PLF is currently limited.

Gastrointestinal Parasites of Domestic Mammalian Hosts in Southeastern Iran

Kareem Hatam-Nahavandi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of intestinal parasites in livestock in Iranshahr County, Southeastern Iran. Most animals studied were infected with at least one species of intestinal parasite. It is important to conduct parasitological monitoring in livestock and take preventive measures to prevent the spread of parasites to humans.

Sheep face recognition and classification based on an improved MobilenetV2 neural network

Yue Pang et al.

Summary: A noncontact facial recognition technique was proposed to identify and track sheep using video cameras and key frame extraction algorithms. A modified convolutional neural network framework, O-MobilenetV2, was developed to improve feature extraction efficiency. The proposed model achieved a high accuracy rate of 95.88% in identifying individual sheep based on facial features, making it a viable strategy for sheep facial recognition and tracking.

When Mobilenetv2 Meets Transformer: A Balanced Sheep Face Recognition Model

Xiaopeng Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a balanced sheep face recognition model called MobileViTFace by combining Mobilenetv2 with Vision Transformer. MobileViTFace enhances the model's ability to extract fine-grained features and suppress the interference of background information, achieving more effective differentiation of different sheep faces. Compared to other models, MobileViTFace achieves a 9.79% improvement in recognition accuracy, while reducing the number of parameters and floating-point operations.

A comprehensive study of class incremental learning algorithms for visual tasks

Eden Belouadah et al.

Summary: The paper investigates the open challenge of enhancing the capabilities of artificial agents when dealing with new data in artificial intelligence, focusing on two types of approaches to address catastrophic forgetting. The study shows that existing algorithms exhibit significant differences in performance under different evaluation settings, particularly in terms of whether a bounded memory of past classes is allowed.
