Salivary metabolome indicates a shift in tyrosine metabolism in patients with burning mouth syndrome: a prospective case-control study

Charlotte Moreau et al.

Summary: The pathophysiology of primary burning mouth syndrome (BMS) remains unclear. This pilot study analyzed the salivary metabolome of BMS patients and found that three metabolites related to the tyrosine pathway played a role in distinguishing patients from controls and among patients with different levels of pain. However, levels of hormones, inflammatory cytokines, and neuroinflammatory markers did not differ between BMS patients and controls and were not associated with characteristics of BMS patients.

Expression of the NSE,SP,NFH and DβH in normal and cryptorchid testes of Bactrian camel

Ligang Yuan et al.

Summary: Neuroendocrine substances play an important role in regulating the normal physiological functions of testicles. This study explored the localization and effects of four neuroendocrine markers in normal and cryptorchid testes of Bactrian camels, revealing the potential relationship between these markers and the development and function of cryptorchidism.

Central dopaminergic, serotoninergic, as well as GABAergic systems mediate NMU-induced hypophagia in newborn chicken

Elham Ghashghayi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interaction between dopaminergic, serotoninergic, and GABAergic systems and neuromedin U (NMU)-induced feeding in birds. The results suggest that NMU-induced hypophagia in neonatal chicks is likely mediated by D-1/D-2 receptors, 5-HT2c receptors, and GABA(A) receptors.

Maternal sleep deprivation affects extinction and reinstatement of methamphetamine reward memory in male offspring: Role of the D1-like and D2-like dopamine receptors

Kaveh Shahveisi et al.

Summary: Maternal sleep-deprivation may increase vulnerability to drug abuse in offspring. The study found that maternal sleep-deprivation delayed drug extinction and facilitated the reinstatement of drug reward memory in offspring. Both dopamine D1-like and D2-like receptors may play a role in drug extinction, while only the dopamine D1 receptor may be important in reinstating the extinguished drug reward memory in offspring.

Analysis of Dopamine D1- and D2-Receptors Effect on Renal Osmoregulatory Function in Rats with Different Blood Vasopressin Level

P. D. Pravikova et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of D-1- and D-2-like dopamine receptors on renal osmoregulatory function in WAG and vasopressin-deficient Brattleboro rats. The results showed that blockade of D-1 receptors did not affect the hydruretic function in WAG rats but promoted antidiuretic response in Brattleboro rats. Blockade of D-2 receptors led to antidiuretic response in WAG rats and a decrease in urinary flow rate in Brattleboro rats. Furthermore, the activation of D-1 receptors resulted in a decrease in sodium excretion rate in WAG rats, while the inhibition of D-2 receptors led to an antinatriuretic reaction in both rat lines. These findings suggest a direct AVP-independent effect of dopamine receptors on water reabsorption and demonstrate the differential effects of D-1 and D-2 receptors on natriuretic function.

Seasonal morphology and immunoreactivity of cytokeratin and atrial natriuretic peptide in dromedary camel poll glands

Zarroug Hassan Ibrahim et al.

Summary: The study investigates the seasonal morphology and immunoreactivity of cytokeratin (CK) and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in the camel poll gland, suggesting a role in camel reproduction. Structural and functional changes in the gland correlate with male seasonal sexual behavior, with CK and ANP proteins potentially modifying camel sexual activity.

The Vasomotor Response to Dopamine Is Altered in the Rat Model of L-dopa-Induced Dyskinesia

Samuel Booth et al.

Summary: The study found that a dosing regimen of 10 mg/kg of L-dopa induced LID in all animals and led to significant angiogenesis in the striatum and substantia nigra. The 2 mg/kg treatment resulted in LID in 6 out of 12 rats, with LID severity increasing linearly over the treatment period. Dopamine-induced vasodilatory responses were exaggerated only in rats showing LID-like signs.
