Fluoroscopy-based percutaneous posterior screw placement in the lateral position using the tunnel view technique: technical note

Gergely Bodon et al.

Summary: This article describes the tunnel view technique for lateral percutaneous pedicle screw placement using fluoroscopy navigation. The technique has become the standard method for prone and lateral percutaneous pedicle screw placement in our department, with a low reoperation rate.

Lateral versus prone robot-assisted percutaneous pedicle screw placement: a CT-based comparative assessment of accuracy

Islam Fayed et al.

Summary: Single-position lateral lumbar interbody fusion (SP-LLIF) with robot-assisted percutaneous pedicle screw (RA-PPS) placement can improve operative efficiency. However, caution should be exercised in its use in the lateral position, especially in obese patients due to decreased accuracy. Further studies comparing SP-LLIF techniques in prone and lateral positions are needed.

Accuracy of Percutaneous Pedicle Screw Placement after Single-Position versus Dual-Position Insertion for Lateral Interbody Fusion and Pedicle Screw Fixation Using Fluoroscopy

Akihiko Hiyama et al.

Summary: By comparing two groups of patients, the study found that inserting PPS under fluoroscopic guidance in the lateral decubitus position was as accurate and safe as inserting PPS in the prone position, with no neurological, vascular, or visceral injuries reported. Misplacement rates were similar to those previously published.
