Summary: Ethyl formate (EF) and propylene oxide (PPO) show different sorption and desorption behaviors in different commodities, which should be considered when using them as fumigants for stored products.

Sulfuryl fluoride as a methyl bromide alternative for fumigation of Necrobia rufipes (Coleoptera: Cleridae) and Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Sarcoptiformes: Acaridae), major pests of animal-based stored products

Md Mahbub Hasan et al.

Summary: The study showed that sulfuryl fluoride (SF) was effective in controlling the red-legged ham beetle but not the ham mite. Eggs of the red-legged ham beetle were more tolerant to SF than other stages, with younger eggs being more susceptible. The ham mite exhibited high tolerance to SF and further research is needed to investigate longer exposure times at higher temperatures for managing this pest effectively.
