A multi-dimensional residual shrinking network combined with a long short-term memory network for state of charge estimation of Li-ion batteries

Rui Quan et al.

Summary: To address the difficulties caused by the multi-dimensional interaction and noise interference in state-of-charge (SoC) estimation, a fusion network combining a multi-dimensional residual shrinkage network (MRSN) with a long short-term memory network (LSTM) is proposed. A sequence-to-point processing method is utilized to avoid data leakage. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed network significantly improves the accuracy of SoC estimation, with the mean absolute error (MAE) kept within 0.5% and an MAE of 0.18% at 25 degrees.

A hybrid probabilistic correction model for the state of charge estimation of lithium-ion batteries considering dynamic currents and temperatures

Paul Takyi-Aninakwa et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a SOC estimation method for lithium-ion batteries based on a deep feed-forward neural network (DFFNN) optimized with a relevant attention mechanism and stochastic weight (RAS) algorithms. The RAS optimization solves the gradient problems and enhances the DFFNN's generalizability to various working conditions, providing more accurate estimates at a lower training cost. The results of the proposed RAS-DFFNN-SUKF model show that it has the overall best mean absolute error, root mean square error, and mean absolute percentage error values, indicating its reliability and adaptability for practical BMS applications in EVs.

Unlocking the thermal safety evolution of lithium-ion batteries under shallow over-discharge

Guangxu Zhang et al.

Summary: Shallow over-discharge has a significant impact on cell performance and thermal safety, primarily through the degradation of solid electrolyte interface film, copper plating, and shedding of active materials. As the depth of over-discharge deepens, the cell capacity decreases, resistance increases, heat generation becomes more significant, and thermal stability decreases. Additionally, the maximum temperature of the over-discharged cell is lower than that of a fresh cell.
