Parametric optimisation through the use of Box-Behnken design in the Co-gasification of oil palm trunk and frond for syngas production

H. A. Umar et al.

Summary: This research focused on the co-gasification of oil palm trunk and frond to optimize the production of syngas. The study successfully obtained a high syngas yield and co-gasification performance through optimizing the operating variables. It was found that operating costs significantly impacted the final syngas cost, with capital and other costs also playing a role.

Box-Behnken response surface methodology design for amaranth dye degradation using gold nanoparticles

G. K. Vanathi Nachiyar et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized gold nanoparticles using a green synthetic approach with an aqueous extract of Aristolochia bracteata leaves as the reducing and capping agent. The gold nanoparticles exhibited spherical shape and sizes in the range of 50-60 nm. They were found to be effective in photocatalytic degradation of amaranth dye, with a degradation rate of 94.6% in 90 minutes.

Startup flow of gelled waxy crude oils in pipelines: The role of volume shrinkage

Behbood Abedi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the volume shrinkage of gelled waxy crude oils in rheometric and tube flows, and the relationship between rheological properties and minimum pressure gradient for flow onset in the presence of volume shrinkage. Two different waxy crudes were studied to outline a method for predicting the minimum startup pressure accounting for shrinkage correction to the conventional force balance.

Enhanced electrocatalytic degradation of bisphenol A by graphite/β-PbO2 anode in a three-dimensional electrochemical reactor

Mohammad Reza Samarghandi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the electrocatalytic synergy of the graphite/beta-PbO2 anode and granular activated carbon (GAC) particles electrodes for bisphenol A (BPA) degradation in a three-dimensional electrochemical reactor (3DER). By optimizing five independent variables, the study achieved a BPA removal efficiency of 98.8% under optimal conditions. LC-MS analysis identified short-chain acids as the final degradation intermediates during BPA degradation.
