Promotion of cutaneous diabetic wound healing by subcutaneous administration of Wharton's jelly mesenchymal stem cells derived from umbilical cord

Mohammad Ali Nilforoushzadeh et al.

Summary: This study investigated the benefits of Wharton's jelly mesenchymal stem cells (WJ-MSCs) derived from the human umbilical cord in wound healing in diabetic rats. The results showed that the WJ-MSCs group had significantly higher wound closure, thickness, and density of new epidermis and dermis, as well as skin elasticity compared to the control group. This suggests that subcutaneous administration of WJ-MSCs can effectively accelerate healing and be used alongside other treatment methods for chronic wounds.

Favorable Biological Performance Regarding the Interaction between Gold Nanoparticles and Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Ruei-Hong Lin et al.

Summary: The research shows that using AuNPs at concentrations of 1.25 and 2.5 ppm can enhance cell proliferation, reduce reactive oxygen species generation, and attenuate platelet/monocyte activation. AuNPs can also promote cell adhesion, increase the expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP-2/9), decrease cell apoptosis and the release of inflammatory cytokines. Animal model experiments demonstrate that treating with 1.25 and 2.5 ppm AuNPs exhibits better biocompatibility and endothelialization. This suggests that AuNPs can be used as a biocompatible nanomedicine for regeneration research.
