Cromolyn Sodium differentially regulates human mast cell and mouse leukocyte responses to control allergic inflammation

Pier Giorgio Puzzovio et al.

Summary: The study found that Cromolyn Sodium has immunomodulatory actions in allergic inflammation that go beyond just stabilizing mast cells, indicating broader mechanisms at play.

Global Classification of Mast Cell Activation Disorders: An ICD-10-CM-Adjusted Proposal of the ECNM-AIM Consortium

Peter Valent et al.

Summary: Mast cell activation (MCA) is a common physiological pathological phenomenon that occurs in many diseases. In some patients, there is no obvious underlying disease or trigger for MCA. When symptoms are severe, systemic, and recurrent, and accompanied by an increase in serum tryptase level or other mediators of mast cells, it may be diagnosed as mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).

Penetration Enhancement Strategies for Intradermal Delivery of Cromolyn Sodium

Miranda Holman et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the use of chemical and physical enhancement strategies for the intradermal delivery of cromolyn sodium (CS) for treatment of atopic dermatitis. The results showed that salcaprozate sodium (SNAC) and microneedles had enhancing effects on drug permeation, but no synergistic enhancement was observed when using them together. The findings provide a theoretical basis for the treatment of atopic dermatitis.

Mast Cell Diseases in Practice and Research: Issues and Perspectives Raised by Patients and Their Recommendations to the Scientific Community and Beyond

Susan Jennings et al.

Summary: This study investigates the unmet needs of patients with mast cell diseases and aims to promote global communication among patient advocacy groups, physicians, researchers, industry, and government. The findings show similarities and differences in patient needs between countries regarding mastocytosis and mast cell activation syndromes.

Drug Stability: ICH versus Accelerated Predictive Stability Studies

Olga Gonzalez-Gonzalez et al.

Summary: The International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have provided guidelines to unify stability standards for the European Union, Japan, and the United States. These guidelines aim to facilitate mutual acceptance of stability data for regulatory registration. ICH stability studies involve testing drug substances under various storage conditions to assess their thermal stability and sensitivity to moisture. Accelerated Predictive Stability (APS) studies have emerged as a more efficient approach to predict long-term stability by combining extreme conditions over a shorter period of time.

Gastrointestinal Manifestations in Systemic Mastocytosis: The Need of a Multidisciplinary Approach

Magda Zanelli et al.

Summary: Mastocytosis represents a heterogeneous group of neoplastic mast cell disorders, with gastrointestinal symptoms being a major cause of morbidity in patients. Diagnosing the disease can be challenging and requires a close multidisciplinary team approach for diagnosis and treatment.
