Sustainable and efficient skin absorption behaviour of transdermal drug: The effect of the release kinetics of permeation enhancer

Jiuheng Ruan et al.

Summary: This study investigated how the release kinetics of permeation enhancers affected their enhancement efficacy on drug skin absorption. It was found that the release of acidic drugs followed the Higuchi release model with short duration, resulting in unsustainable enhancement efficiency. On the other hand, the release of basic drugs followed a zero-order model with long duration, leading to sustainable and efficient enhancement. Understanding the release kinetics of enhancers can help in the selection and optimization of transdermal patches.

The distinctive role of menthol in pain and analgesia: Mechanisms, practices, and advances

Ziping Li et al.

Summary: Menthol can generate a cooling sensation under physiological conditions, but can also induce cold allodynia and cold hyperalgesia at higher concentrations. In pathological situations, it can mitigate mechanical allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia. Additionally, menthol can modulate pain perception by activating different channels and signaling pathways.

Polymeric Nanoparticles and Chitosan Gel Loading Ketorolac Tromethamine to Alleviate Pain Associated with Condyloma Acuminata during the Pre- and Post-Ablation

Salima El Moussaoui et al.

Summary: This study developed two formulations, a hydrogel and a nanostructured system, containing ketorolac tromethamine for local therapy against inflammation resulting from surgical excision of Condyloma acuminata. The nanoparticles exhibited significantly higher anti-inflammatory efficacy compared to the chitosan gel, making them promising candidates for local anti-inflammatory therapy with potential clinical application.

Joanne Shalini Chewa Raja et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy of pre-emptive use of 0.5% topical ketorolac tromethamine in reducing pain in patients undergoing panretinal photocoagulation. The results showed that ketorolac significantly reduced pain compared to a placebo, indicating its effectiveness in pain alleviation.

Topical Mucoadhesive Alginate-Based Hydrogel Loading Ketorolac for Pain Management after Pharmacotherapy, Ablation, or Surgical Removal in Condyloma Acuminata

Salima El Moussaoui et al.

Summary: The study developed a biocompatible topical hydrogel containing ketorolac tromethamine for managing painful inflammatory processes caused by the removal of anogenital condylomas. The hydrogel showed adequate characteristics for topical formulation and displayed good local tolerance on human skin and vaginal mucosa. With 53% anti-inflammatory activity, the ketorolac hydrogel is considered stable and suitable for treating inflammatory processes associated with anogenital warts removal.
