Revealing the role of the rhizosphere microbiota in reproductive growth for fruit productivity when inorganic fertilizer is partially replaced by organic fertilizer in pear orchard fields

Summary: In response to the global pear productivity crisis, there has been a growing interest in advocating for the use of organic fertilizers. Researchers focused on studying the microbial properties of organic fertilizers to gain insight into their potential impact on fruit productivity. Specifically, this study examined the effects of different ratios of sheep manure (SM) and chemical fertilizers (CF) on pear productivity. The findings revealed that replacing CF with SM resulted in increased abundance of certain bacteria in the soil rhizosphere, leading to a significant increase in pear production.

Shifts in the rhizobiome during consecutive in planta enrichment for phosphate-solubilizing bacteria differentially affect maize P status

Summary: A new in planta enrichment concept was developed to simultaneously select for phosphate solubilization and rhizosphere competence. Inoculating maize roots with phosphate-solubilizing bacteria led to plants showing a similar phosphorus status to those supplied with soluble phosphate. Non-destructive multispectral imaging and metabarcoding revealed the effectiveness of this method, as well as shifts in the rhizobiome towards bacteria with plant growth-promoting and P-solubilizing capacities.

A microbial consortium-based product promotes potato yield by recruiting rhizosphere bacteria involved in nitrogen and carbon metabolisms
