Summary: The study showed that spontaneous ventilation video-assisted thoracic surgery (SV-VATS) is not inferior to mechanical ventilation VATS (MV-VATS) in terms of complication rate for primary spontaneous pneumothorax patients undergoing blebectomy. Additionally, SV-VATS was associated with shorter procedural duration, recovery time, and food intake time.

Perineural and intravenous dexamethasone and dexmedetomidine: network meta-analysis of adjunctive effects on supraclavicular bracheal plexus block

Summary: This network meta-analysis compared and ranked the effects of perineural and intravenous dexamethasone and dexmedetomidine as supraclavicular block adjuncts. The results showed that dexamethasone as an adjunct prolonged the durations of sensory and analgesic blockade to a greater extent than dexmedetomidine, regardless of route. Intravenous dexmedetomidine did not affect block characteristics.
