Curcumin reduces paclitaxel resistance in ovarian carcinoma cells by upregulating SNIP1 and inhibiting NFicB activity

Shang-Lang Huang et al.

Summary: Our study identified the upregulation of the NFicB signaling pathway in paclitaxel-resistant ovarian cancer cells and found that SNIP1 may be involved in regulating NFicB activity. Curcumin upregulated SNIP1 expression, leading to the downregulation of pro-survival genes and the inhibition of NFicB activity. Furthermore, we demonstrated that SNIP1 enhanced NFicB protein degradation, thereby suppressing NFicB/p65 acetylation and protein stability. These findings provide insights into the mechanism of curcumin in reducing paclitaxel resistance and inducing apoptosis in ovarian cancer cells.

Summary: Liver cancer is often diagnosed in the late stage due to its few early symptoms. Sorafenib, the only FDA-approved first-line anticancer drug for advanced HCC, has limited use due to resistance. Therefore, developing new drugs is crucial for customized treatment. Studies have shown that Yes-associated protein (YAP)/transcriptional co-activator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ) is associated with metastasis and progression of liver cancer. This study found that evodiamine can inhibit YAP and reduce cell growth of HCC, demonstrating its potential as an effective anticancer drug for HCC.
