Prevalence and determinants of anxiety and depression in long-term breast cancer survivors

Clara Breidenbach et al.

Summary: This analysis examines the prevalence, development, and determinants of depression and anxiety among breast cancer survivors in Germany 5 to 6 years after diagnosis. The study identifies several sociodemographic and clinical predictors and emphasizes the need for psychosocial support in both acute and long-term stages of treatment.

Durability of treatment effects following internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy for depression and anxiety delivered within a routine care setting

Jorge E. Palacios et al.

Summary: This study investigates the rates of remission and relapse after completing acute phase of iCBT treatment in routine care setting. The results provide valuable insights into the durability of iCBT effects in routine care settings, where follow-up is not typically conducted after completion of treatment.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Summary: This study compared the difference in brain glucose metabolism changes between temporal lobe epilepsy patients with and without major depressive disorder. It was found that there are differences in F-18-FDG uptake in multiple encephalic regions between these two groups.

Predictors of relapse and recurrence following cognitive behavioural therapy for anxiety-related disorders: a systematic review

Ben Lorimer et al.

Summary: This study found that approximately 23.8% of patients experienced relapse of anxiety symptoms following completion of CBT. A total of 21 potential predictors were identified and grouped into seven categories. Further research with standardized definitions of relapse is needed to identify robust predictors.
