Auxetic Meta-Display: Stretchable Display without Image Distortion

Bongkyun Jang et al.

Summary: Mechanical metamaterials, especially auxetic metamaterials with negative Poisson's ratios, allow for stretchable displays without image distortion. The meta-display, incorporating micro-LEDs and a kirigami-based auxetic circuit board, overcomes the challenges of large stretchability, high deformation uniformity, and low image distortion. It demonstrates a stretchability of 24.5%, Poisson's ratio of -1, and no image distortion under uniaxial stretching.

Performance of an auxetic honeycomb-core sandwich panel under close-in and far-field detonations of high explosive

Rajendra Prasad Bohara et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the protective effect of a re-entrant auxetic honeycomb-core sandwich panel on reinforced concrete slabs under high explosive detonations using numerical models. The results showed that the AHSP had higher energy absorption and pressure deflection capabilities compared to the CHSP, making it more effective in protecting structures.

Mechanics of tension-induced film wrinkling and restabilization: a review

Ting Wang et al.

Summary: This review focuses on recent advancements in the mechanics of tension-induced film wrinkling and restabilization, highlighting three major stages of progress and the impacts of curved configurations and material properties on pattern formation. The growing demand for understanding and tracking secondary bifurcation transitions in thin film morphology evolution is driving the development of finite-strain plate/shell theories and sophisticated modelling methods. Overall, this progress not only enhances our understanding of complex instability behavior, but also uncovers novel phenomena and contributes to the development of wrinkle-tunable membrane structures and functional surfaces.
