Thermoelectric and Photothermoelectric Properties of Nanocomposite Films Based on Polybenzimidazole and Carbon Nanotubes

Jinho Park et al.

Summary: In this study, the thermoelectric and photothermoelectric properties of PBI-based nanocomposite films with different loadings of MWCNT were investigated. The results showed that the Seebeck coefficient and thermoelectric current generation efficiency of the nanocomposite films increased with the increase of MWCNT content. In addition, visible light illumination at the interface between the film and electrode induced excellent photothermoelectric performance.

Josephson junction infrared single-photon detector

Evan D. Walsh et al.

Summary: Josephson junctions serve as high-sensitivity magnetometers and voltage amplifiers, and are crucial for high-performance cryogenic and superconducting quantum computers. Despite the potential degradation in device performance caused by quasiparticle generation, this phenomenon also offers opportunities for detecting electromagnetic radiation with sensitivity.Detection of single photons in near-infrared range has been demonstrated by coupling photons to the localized surface plasmons of a graphene-based Josephson junction, revealing the critical role of quasiparticles in the detection mechanism.

Enhanced optoelectronic properties of a mercury cadmium telluride based double heterojunction photodetector for terahertz applications

Vijayakumar Devarakonda et al.

Summary: In this study, a HgCdTe based double heterojunction n-i-p photodetector operating at 30 μm was proposed to achieve low dark current and enhanced optical characteristics. The device was simulated in ATLAS(TM) TCAD tool, and the results were validated through analytical modeling. Operating at 77K, the double heterojunction photodetector exhibited improved optoelectronic properties compared to single hetero-junction photodetectors, with dark current, quantum efficiency, responsivity, specific detectivity, and noise equivalent power values improving significantly.
