The Landscape of AhR Regulators and Coregulators to Fine-Tune AhR Functions

Marco Gargaro et al.

Summary: The aryl-hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor that mediates various cellular responses and has attracted significant attention in the field of immunology in recent years. In addition to its role in toxicology, AhR also plays a crucial role in normal cell physiology, mediating toxic or physiologic effects in response to multiple exogenous and endogenous molecules. Various factors, such as the nature of the ligand, its metabolism by AhR-induced enzymes, tissue microenvironment, and the presence of coregulators or specific transcription factors, contribute to the outcome of gene transcriptional regulation by AhR.

'SMASH' recommendations for standardised microscopic arthritis scoring of histological sections from inflammatory arthritis animal models

Silvia Hayer et al.

Summary: Animal models for inflammatory arthritides like rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis are widely used for research, but many publications lack detailed descriptions and evaluations of arthritis pathology. The European consortium BeTheCure developed SMASH recommendations for standardised histological evaluation to improve information and promote reproducibility in preclinical research on inflammatory arthritis.

Hydroquinone Exposure Worsens Rheumatoid Arthritis through the Activation of the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor and Interleukin-17 Pathways

Cintia Scucuglia Heluany et al.

Summary: The study reveals that HQ treatment of RAHFLS can exert harmful effects on synoviocyte proliferation by activating AhR and IL-17 pathways, and exacerbate AIA symptoms through exposure to HQ, but these effects are abolished in AhR (-/-) and IL-17R (-/-) animals.
