Roles of Wnt Signaling Pathway and ROR2 Receptor in Embryonic Development: An Update Review Article

Rui Guo et al.

Summary: Wnt5a, a secreted glycoprotein, plays a vital role in regulating embryonic development and tissue homeostasis through various signaling pathways. It activates β-catenin and binds to Ror receptors to regulate cell functions and embryonic development.

The Expression of Proto-Oncogene ETS-Related Gene (ERG) Plays a Central Role in the Oncogenic Mechanism Involved in the Development and Progression of Prostate Cancer

Ealia Khosh Kish et al.

Summary: The ERG gene is consistently overexpressed in prostate cancer and is mainly due to the fusion of ERG and TMPRSS2 genes. ERG enhances tumor growth by promoting inflammatory and angiogenic responses and is involved in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition, increasing the metastatic ability of prostate cancer.

PA2G4 promotes the metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma by stabilizing FYN mRNA in a YTHDF2-dependent manner

Sheng Sun et al.

Summary: This study found that the expression of PA2G4 in HCC is associated with poor prognosis and metastasis. PA2G4 promotes HCC cell migration and invasion by increasing FYN expression through binding with YTHDF2. These findings suggest that PA2G4 may serve as a potential prognostic marker or therapeutic target in HCC.

Pseudogene PA2G4P4 promotes oncogene PA2G4 expression and nuclear translocation to affect glioblastoma cell viability and apoptosis

Xiaofeng Hou et al.

Summary: The study found that both PA2G4P4 and PA2G4 were upregulated in GBM tissues and PA2G4 expression was boosted in GBM cells. Knockdown of PA2G4P4 or PA2G4 inhibited cell viability, induced apoptosis, and increased caspase-3 and caspase-9 activities in GBM cells. Data from UALCAN database also showed a high correlation between PA2G4P4 and PA2G4 expression.

WLS-Wnt signaling promotes neuroendocrine prostate cancer

Tyler Bland et al.

Summary: Experimental studies revealed that the Wnt secretion mediator Wnt less (WLS) plays a major role in NEPC pathogenesis and aggressive tumor growth, being suppressed by AR and activating the ROR2/PKC delta/ERK signaling pathway. Clinical sample analysis showed high expression of WLS in CRPC and NEPC tumors, and treatment with WLS inhibitor LGK974 can restrict NE prostate tumor growth.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Increased PA2G4 Expression Is an Unfavorable Factor in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Yan Xu et al.

Summary: High levels of PA2G4 protein expression in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients are associated with tumor size, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis, and clinical stage, as well as shorter overall survival time. Elevated PA2G4 protein expression is identified as an independent prognostic indicator for NPC patient survival, especially in advanced clinical stages.

Nucleostemin upregulation and STAT3 activation as early events in oral epithelial dysplasia progression to squamous cell carcinoma

Madeleine Crawford et al.

Summary: In the progression from low-grade oral epithelial dysplasia to OSCC, the upregulation of nucleostemin (NS) and activation of STAT3 are early events. In both rodent and human samples, NS and p-STAT3 show increased expression in high-grade dysplasia and poorly differentiated OSCC.
