Evaluating the Longitudinal Course of Atopic Dermatitis: Implications for Clinical Practice

Raj Chovatiya et al.

Summary: This article reviews the longitudinal course of atopic dermatitis (AD) in children and adults and discusses its implications for routine practice and clinical trials. The study suggests that AD can persist into adulthood and has various predictors of persistence. Fluctuations in symptoms over time are common in real-world practice, which is not accounted for in clinical trials. Incorporating the heterogeneous temporal pattern of AD into routine practice is important for setting expectations and offering realistic prognoses.
