Foveal Intraretinal Fluid Localization Affects the Visual Prognosis of Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion

Hirofumi Sasajima et al.

Summary: We investigated the impact of baseline foveal intraretinal fluid (IRF) localization on the visual prognosis of branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). The results showed that baseline IRF localization significantly correlated with the 12-month best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), indicating that eyes with better baseline BCVA and one-side IRF have a better visual prognosis in BRVO.

Foveal Thickness Fluctuation in Anti-VEGF Treatment for Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion: A Long-term Study

Daisuke Nagasato et al.

Summary: The study of 309 treatment-naive patients with BRVO-ME found that foveal thickness fluctuation significantly affects visual and morphologic outcomes, suggesting that strict control of FTF may improve the prognosis of eyes with this type of retinal vein occlusion.

The randomized ZIPANGU trial of ranibizumab and adjunct laser for macular edema following branch retinal vein occlusion in treatment-naive patients

Toshinori Murata et al.

Summary: The ZIPANGU study demonstrated the efficacy and safety of ranibizumab as a one loading dose+pro re nata (one+PRN) regimen in treating ME following BRVO. There were no significant differences in the mean number of ranibizumab injections or CSFT between monotherapy and combination therapy, but monotherapy showed better improvement in BCVA compared to combination therapy. Overall, both regimens were shown to be safe and well tolerated in treatment-naive patients with ME secondary to BRVO.
