Choroidal morphologic features in central serous chorioretinopathy using ultra-widefield optical coherence tomography

Ryoh Funatsu et al.

Summary: This study used UWF-OCT to analyze the choroidal morphological changes in CSC patients and found that the choroid is thicker in CSC patients, even in the peripheral areas. The macular choroidal thickening is more severe in the upper-dominant type of VVDP.

Wide-field swept source optical coherence tomography evaluation of posterior segment changes in highly myopic eyes

Li-Hui Meng et al.

Summary: The study utilized wide-field high-resolution SS OCT to investigate features in the posterior pole of highly myopic eyes, providing comprehensive imaging of the choroid, sclera, and posterior staphyloma. The SS OCT images vividly identified different deformations of the sclera and posterior staphyloma, offering valuable insights for disease therapy, monitoring, and pathogenesis research.

A new insight into pachychoroid diseases: Remodeling of choroidal vasculature

Shoji Kishi et al.

Summary: The researchers suggest that pachychoroid diseases are a result of chronic vortex vein stasis. Central serous chorioretinopathy is the first stage of pachychoroid diseases, caused by congestion of the choroidal veins. The chronic stasis of the vortex veins leads to venous anastomosis and occlusion of the choriocapillaris, resulting in choroidal neovascularization and the development of pachychoroid neovasculopathy.

Ultra-Widefield Swept-Source Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography in the Assessment of Choroidal Changes in Young Adults With Myopia

Jian Gao et al.

Summary: This study used ultra-widefield swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA) to evaluate choroidal changes in young adults with myopia. It found that high myopia was associated with a significant decrease in choroidal thickness and choroidal Sattler's and Haller's layer (CSHL) vessel density. Choroidal thinning was most evident in the macular area. Decreased CSHL vessel density with increasing axial length also indicated regional differences in eyes with myopia.

Quantitative evaluations of vortex vein ampullae by adjusted 3D reverse projection model of ultra-widefield fundus images

Ryoh Funatsu et al.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the number and location of vortex vein ampullae (VVA) in normal eyes, finding that men had a significantly higher number of VVA compared to women. The research also explored the associations between VVA and factors such as age, sex, and visual acuity.

Distribution of Choroidal Thickness and Choroidal Vessel Dilation in Healthy Japanese Individuals The Nagahama Study

Yuki Mori et al.

Summary: This study reported fundamental epidemiologic data for choroidal parameters in the Japanese population, revealing correlations between choroidal thickness and vascularity indices with age, sex, and other systemic parameters. Differences in choroidal parameters were observed among different age groups and sexes.
