Dietary patterns and predicted 10-year cardiovascular disease risk in a multiethnic Asian population

Yu Qi Lee et al.

Summary: This study identified dietary patterns and their associations with cardiovascular disease risk in the Asian population. The 'ethnic breads, legumes and nuts' and 'whole grains, fruit and dairy' patterns were associated with lower risk, while the 'processed food and sugar-sweetened beverages' pattern was associated with higher risk.

Exploration of the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) Approach in Synthesizing the Diet Quality of the Malaysian Population

Asma' Ali et al.

Summary: This study examined the dietary patterns of the Malaysian population using a posteriori method and principal component analysis (PCA), identifying six main patterns which explained 45.9% of the total variability. Positive associations were found between specific dietary patterns and nutrient intake, such as the traditional pattern with protein and sugar intake, prudent pattern with dietary fiber, and Chinese pattern with total energy. The exploration of the PCA approach demonstrated the importance of assessing dietary patterns for overall nutritional wellbeing and exploring diet-disease relationships.

Risk factors of asthma in the Asian population: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Yang Yie Sio et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of asthma-associated risk factors reported in Asia, identifying family history of allergy-related conditions as the most frequently reported risk factor for asthma development with the highest risk estimate. This highlights the significant role of genetic component in the pathogenesis of asthma, suggesting further research on asthma genetics is needed for better understanding of asthma etiology.
