Porcine uterine luminal fluid-derived extracellular vesicles improve conceptus-endometrial interaction during implantation

Qun Hu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the characteristics, origin, and roles of uterine luminal fluid-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) in porcine conceptus implantation. The EVs were found to mainly originate from endometrial epithelial cells, with an increase in concentration starting from day 12 of pregnancy. Functional enrichment analysis revealed that the miRNAs in these EVs potentially regulate EV transportation or conceptus implantation, providing important insights for future translational studies on porcine EVs.

Vaginal bacterial diversity from healthy gilts and pregnant sows subjected to natural mating or artificial insemination

Andrea Torres Luque et al.

Summary: The study identified differences in vaginal microbiota composition and diversity between gilts and pregnant sows, showing lower richness and higher relative abundance of Proteobacteria in pregnant sows. Additionally, the microbial populations differed between sows based on breeding method, with artificial insemination leading to lower levels of Firmicutes compared to natural mating sows.

GeneWalk identifies relevant gene functions for a biological context using network representation learning

Robert Ietswaart et al.

Summary: GeneWalk introduces a new method that aims to identify individual genes and their relevant functions in high-throughput functional genomics experiments, by automatically assembling experiment-specific gene regulatory networks and using representation learning to quantify the similarity between genes and GO annotations. By performing gene- and condition-specific functional analysis, GeneWalk converts a list of genes into data-driven hypotheses.
