Tip fabrication methods of hollow metal microneedles

Chao-Wei Dong et al.

Summary: Hollow microneedles can penetrate the skin and other biological barriers, making them a promising tool for painless drug delivery and body fluid sensing. A nickel microneedle model with specific dimensions was proposed, and three different manufacturing methods were introduced to construct the microneedle. Penetration capability and structure reliability were verified through experiments on rabbit skin and film puncture. These microneedles can be combined with drug delivery devices to achieve accurate and controllable flow rates. Mechanical tests and solution delivery tests demonstrated the strong mechanical strength and feasibility of the microneedle structure as a drug delivery device.

Programmable and monitorable intradermal vaccine delivery using ultrasound perforation array

Yaxin Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, we introduce a new method of controllable perforation of murine skin using highly-focused ultrasound. By programming ultrasound parameters, the size of the skin perforation area can be varied and monitored using ultrasound pulse-echo imaging. The method enhances local skin expression of heat shock protein 70 and attracts immune cells. The antigen dose delivered by the ultrasound perforation can be effectively modulated via programmable perforation arrays. Compared to traditional intradermal injection, this method shows higher efficacy.

The Insights of Microbes' Roles in Wound Healing: A Comprehensive Review

Thambirajoo Maheswary et al.

Summary: The diversity of normal flora on human skin varies between individuals and parts of the skin. A symbiotic relationship has been formed over time between humans and normal flora. In chronic wounds, particularly in patients with diabetes, the conditions become favorable for microbes to colonize and establish infections within the skin. Antibiotics and wound dressings are the targeted therapy to treat chronic wounds, although prolonged usage may lead to ineffectiveness or resistance. Further studies are needed to comprehensively understand the role of human skin normal flora in chronic injuries at the cellular and molecular level.
