IMPULSED model based cytological feature estimation with U-Net: Application to human brain tumor at 3T

Jian Wu et al.

Summary: This study introduces and validates a deep-learning-based fitting method for rapidly and accurately estimating cytological features of brain tumor. The U-Net model quantifies microstructural parameters of brain tumor and demonstrates better accuracy and robustness compared to conventional non-linear least-squares fitting. Our method is orders of magnitude faster while improving the quality of parameter estimation.

Improving MR cell size imaging by inclusion of transcytolemmal water exchange

Xiaoyu Jiang et al.

Summary: The goal of this study is to include transcytolemmal water exchange in MR cell size imaging using the IMPULSED model for more accurate characterization of tissue cellular properties and quantification of indicators of water exchange. A heuristic model is proposed to incorporate water exchange into the IMPULSED model, improving the accuracy of cell size and apparent volume fraction of intracellular space parameters.

The Crosstalk Between Tumor Cells and the Immune Microenvironment in Breast Cancer: Implications for Immunotherapy

Vincenzo Salemme et al.

Summary: The progression of breast cancer is influenced by genetic and epigenetic factors that involve interactions between tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment, particularly immune cells. Immune cells in the tumor microenvironment can have dual roles in cancer onset and progression, affecting both tumor suppression and promotion. Understanding the complex interplay between cancer and immune cells, as well as therapeutic strategies targeting this interaction, is crucial for developing effective combination treatments to overcome tumor immune evasion mechanisms and maximize the clinical benefits of current immunotherapies.

Construction of an Immune Cell Infiltration Score to Evaluate the Prognosis and Therapeutic Efficacy of Ovarian Cancer Patients

Jinhui Liu et al.

Summary: Ovarian cancer is an immunogenetic disease with tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, and immunotherapy has shown potential as a novel treatment. Through analyzing immune cell infiltration levels, patients can be categorized into two subtypes, where those with high ICI score demonstrate better clinical outcomes and higher tumor mutation burden. High ICI group patients may benefit from immunotherapy and show increased sensitivity to chemotherapy drugs.
