Gross hematuria after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination: questionnaire survey in Japan

Keiichi Matsuzaki et al.

Summary: A survey conducted by the Japanese Society of Nephrology revealed that most patients with gross hematuria after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine were already diagnosed with IgAN. Some of these patients developed proteinuria and hematuria after vaccination, but there were no cases of severe renal dysfunction observed.

IgA Nephropathy with Gross Hematuria Following COVID-19 mRNA Vaccination

Yoshihito Nihei et al.

Summary: A case report highlights the development of Immunogloblin A nephropathy (IgAN) after administration of an mRNA vaccine. The biopsy showed mild changes and the symptoms improved without medication. Further studies are needed to investigate the association between mRNA vaccines and IgAN progression.

Tertiary lymphoid tissue in early-stage IgG4-related tubulointerstitial nephritis incidentally detected with a tumor lesion of the ureteropelvic junction: a case report

Tatsuhito Miyanaga et al.

Summary: The case report describes a 72-year-old Japanese man with IgG4-related kidney disease and the presence of tertiary lymphoid tissue (TLT) containing germinal centers. The study suggests that TLT formation is related to the development of IgG4-TIN and may help elucidate the pathophysiology of IgG4-TIN.

Intranasal priming induces local lung-resident B cell populations that secrete protective mucosal antiviral IgA

Ji Eun Oh et al.

Summary: Research shows that intranasal immunization induces local IgA secretion in the bronchoalveolar space, providing effective protection against respiratory virus infections; single-cell RNA sequencing reveals a heterogeneous population of IgA-expressing cells within the respiratory mucosa, including tissue-resident memory B cells, plasmablasts, and plasma cells.

Nasal-associated lymphoid tissue is the major induction site for nephritogenic IgA in murine IgA nephropathy

Toshiki Kano et al.

Summary: The dysregulation of mucosal immunity may play a role in the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy. Researchers found that in murine IgAN, NALT cells produce more aberrantly glycosylated IgA than cells from mesenteric lymph nodes and Peyer's patch, leading to the formation of IgG-IgA immune complexes.

Tripartite Separation of Glomerular Cell Types and Proteomes from Reporter-Free Mice

Favian A. Hatje et al.

Summary: timMEP method successfully isolated mesangial cells, endothelial cells, and podocytes from mice, enabling protein-biochemical analyses without the need for reporters. The method revealed cell type-specific proteome differences between mouse strains and variations based on sex, age, and transgene, as well as highlighted a protein-based mechanism of podocyte injury in a specific animal model, showing the potential for comprehensive characterization of glomerular cell biology.

The major histocompatibility complex: new insights from old molecules into the pathogenesis of autoimmunity

Hisashi Arase

Summary: The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) plays a central role in autoimmune disease susceptibility, with specific MHC alleles being involved in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. MHC class II molecules act as chaperones to transport misfolded proteins to the cell surface, where they become major targets for autoantibodies in autoimmune diseases.

beta II spectrin (SPTBN1): biological function and clinical potential in cancer and other diseases

Panyu Yang et al.

Summary: Beta II spectrin plays crucial roles in the development of various organs and regulates multiple cellular functions. Dysfunction of beta II spectrin is associated with diseases, highlighting the potential therapeutic targets for future research. Understanding the regulatory mechanism of beta II spectrin signal inactivation and recovery may offer hope for the treatment of related diseases.
