Inverse design of spontaneous parametric downconversion for generation of high-dimensional qudits

Eyal Rozenberg et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a physically constrained and differentiable model that can learn the interaction parameters in the spontaneous parametric downconversion (SPDC) process. By learning nonlinear photonic crystal structures and different pump beam shapes, maximally entangled states can be successfully generated, and the generated quantum state can be dynamically controlled by changing the pump beam profile.

10 dB Quantum-Enhanced Michelson Interferometer with Balanced Homodyne Detection

Joscha Heinze et al.

Summary: In this study, we report the successful 10 dB sensitivity enhancement of a tabletop Michelson interferometer via squeezed light. We also implemented the balanced homodyne detection scheme for the third generation of GWD. Our results represent significant progress in the application of nonclassical states in higher-order modes.

Manipulating Orbital Angular Momentum Entanglement in Three-Dimensional Spiral Nonlinear Photonic Crystals

Qian Yu et al.

Summary: We propose and theoretically investigate the correlation between two-photon orbital angular momentum (OAM) through spontaneous parameter down-conversion (SPDC) processes in three-dimensional (3D) spiral nonlinear photonic crystals (NPCs). By designing the NPC structure properly, the OAM-correlated photon pair can be feasibly modulated, providing a potential platform for high-dimensional entanglement in quantum information processing and quantum communications.

Orbital angular momentum of light for communications

Alan E. Willner et al.

Summary: Structured light, especially beams carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM), has attracted much interest due to its unique amplitude and phase structures. Multiple orthogonal OAM beams can potentially increase link capacity in communication systems. This review discusses challenges, advances, and perspectives on various aspects of OAM-based optical communications.

Quasi-phase-matching-division multiplexing holography in a three-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystal

Pengcheng Chen et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates a quasi-phase-matching (QPM) -division multiplexing holography using a three-dimensional (3D) nonlinear photonic crystal (NPC), capable of efficiently reconstructing target images at the second-harmonic (SH) wave and easily switching between reconstructed SH images by changing the QPM condition. The multiplexing capacity is scalable with the period number of 3D NPC, providing a promising strategy for highly efficient nonlinear multiplexing holography for high-security and high-density storage of optical information.
