Synthesis of N-doped carbon quantum dots as lubricant additive to enhance the tribological behavior of MoS2 nanofluid

Jiaqi He et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel lubricant additive, nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dot (N-CQD) nanoparticle, was prepared using the solvothermal method. The N-CQDs were added to MoS2 nanofluid and showed significant reduction in friction coefficient and wear rate for steel/steel friction pairs. This improvement in lubrication performance was attributed to the formation of a tribofilm induced by the tribochemistry reaction.

Ionic Liquid Crystals Confining Ultrathin MoS2Nanosheets: A High-Concentration and Stable Aqueous Dispersion

Rui Tian et al.

Summary: In this paper, ultrathin MoS2 was synthesized using ionic liquid crystals (ILCs) as green exfoliating/dispersing agents in water. The ILCs not only helped to exfoliate bulk MoS2 into ultrathin MoS2 nanosheets but also prevented re-agglomeration, resulting in remarkable dispersion stability. Furthermore, the ILC-MoS2 dispersion exhibited excellent water-based lubrication performance due to the lubricant film formed by ILCs on the friction surface and the load-bearing capacity increased by MoS2.

Dispersion and tribological properties of nano-MoS2/sericite particles in di-n-butyl adipate synthesized by their own catalysis

Zhixiang Li et al.

Summary: A novel method to improve the dispersion and lubrication of nano-MoS2 in ester oil was proposed. The synthesized S-MoS2/sericite catalyst remained in DBA with a high content and the dispersion system showed good long-term stability. The dispersion system reduced friction and wear by forming a lubricating film or embedding in the soft surface under different conditions.

Superhydrophobic MoS2 Nanosheet-Cu2O Nanoparticle Antiwear Coatings

Chunmeng Dong et al.

Summary: The study constructed superhydrophobic MoS2 nanosheet-Cu2O nanoparticle antiwear coatings by immersing sputtered MoS2 coatings in a solution of CuSO4 and sodium citrate. The coatings exhibited outstanding stability and durability, with low friction coefficient and long antiwear life, attributed to the cooperation of microstructures and nanostructures.
