Factors associated infant development in Brazilian children: baseline of the impact assessment of the Happy Child Program

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the association between socioeconomic, family, and individual factors and infant development among families with social vulnerability. The findings showed that preterm infants and those with intrauterine growth restriction had lower developmental scores, as did infants of mothers with low education levels, depressive symptoms, multiple young siblings, and lack of perceived support or help during pregnancy.

Improving parenting, child attachment, and externalizing behaviors: Meta-analysis of the first 25 randomized controlled trials on the effects of Video-feedback Intervention to promote Positive Parenting and Sensitive Discipline

Summary: This meta-analysis examines the effects of Video-feedback Intervention to promote Positive Parenting and Sensitive Discipline (VIPP-SD) on parenting, child attachment, and externalizing behaviors. The results show significant effects of VIPP-SD on parenting behavior and attitudes, as well as child attachment security. However, there is no significant effect on child externalizing behavior. The association between parenting and attachment effects is also examined.

Accelerating progress on early childhood development for children under 5 years with disabilities by 2030

Summary: The objective of this study was to determine the cumulative prevalence of biological and social risk factors at birth. The results showed that most newborns had multiple risk factors, with biological risks being the most prominent. Among the social risks, factors such as deceased siblings, family without income, young mothers under 16 years old without prenatal care stood out. The prevalence of biological risks was 7.39 times higher than that of social risks.

The Coping with and Caring for Infants with Special Needs intervention was associated with improved motor development in preterm infants
