Magnetic-field-regulated Ni-Fe-Mo ternary alloy electrocatalysts with enduring spin polarization enhanced oxygen evolution reaction

Wenqiang Gao et al.

Summary: Ni-Fe-Mo ternary alloy nanowire electrocatalysts were prepared through a magnetic field-assisted self-assembly method. These alloy electrodes exhibit spin polarization-dependent OER catalytic performance, attributed to ferromagnetic regulation. Ni0.8Fe0.15Mo0.05 shows the highest ferromagnetism and substantially improved OER activity. The favorable adsorption of oxygen-containing intermediates (OH*), composition-dependent, and enduring spin polarization contribute to the regulated OER activity. The higher magnetic properties of Ni-Fe-Mo ternary alloy nanowires contribute to in situ spin polarization at the surface.
