Surface Defects Improved SERS Activity of Nanoporous Gold Prepared by Electrochemical Dealloying

Ling Zhang et al.

Summary: By controlling electrochemical dealloying, we modified the ligament surface of nanoporous gold (NPG) to improve its surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) property. The presence of high-density atomic steps and kinks on the curved surfaces, as well as high-content silver atoms close to the ligament surface, contributed to the high SERS ability. This strategy is important for the fabrication of nanoporous metals with excellent surface properties for sensing, conversion, and catalysis.

Synthesis of Ag NPs layer and its application as SERS substrate in the determination of p-phenylenediamine

Qizhi Yu et al.

Summary: An Ag nanoparticles layer was synthesized on Ag sheet using alloying/electrochemical dealloying method, showing significant SERS enhancement effect for detecting p-phenylenediamine (PPD) with a linear relationship between SERS peaks intensity and the logarithm of PPD concentration in the range from 10(-16)mol L(-1) to 10(-12)mol L(-1), and a detection limit of 1.0 x 10(-17)mol L-1.

Optical tweezers-controlled hotspot for sensitive and reproducible surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy characterization of native protein structures

Xin Dai et al.

Summary: Identifying protein structures at low concentrations is currently challenging. In this study, optical tweezers-coupled Raman spectroscopy is reported to produce tunable and reproducible SERS enhancements with single-molecule level sensitivity, and is used to detect protein structural features.

Magical oxygen: Tuning Cu&Ag nanoporous membrane into nanoporous (Cu&Ag)@Ag core-shell alloy

Xue Liu et al.

Summary: Metallic glasses are ideal materials for preparing nanostructures by dealloying, with ultrathin Cu&Ag bimetallic nanoporous membranes (NPMs) and nanoporous (Cu&Ag)@Ag core-shell alloy successfully synthesized through the combination of chemical dealloying and ultrasonic vibration. The introduction of oxygen can enable the tuning of the nanostructures into a more robust antibacterial nanoporous (Cu&Ag)@Ag core-shell alloy.

Facile fabrication of nanoporous gold films for surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensing and SPR-based SERS

Chen Chen et al.

Summary: Nanoporous gold films exhibit both PSPR and LSPR effects, with the latter being exclusively used for SERS applications. The study shows that NPG films offer higher SPR sensitivity and stronger SERS signals compared to dense gold films, due to their ability to interact with adsorbed molecules throughout the film thickness.
