Effect of ECAP processing on distribution of second phase particles, hardness and electrical conductivity of Cu-0.81Cr-0.07Zr alloy

Filipe Caldatto Dalan et al.

Summary: The effect of equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) processing on the distribution of second phase particles and its influence on the hardness and electrical conductivity of a commercial Cu-0.81Cr-0.07Zr alloy was investigated. The results showed that ECAP processing led to a reduction in the area fraction of coarse Cr-rich particles, resulting in a decrease in electrical conductivity. However, aging heat treatment after ECAP processing promoted an additional hardening effect and complete recuperation of the electrical conductivity.

Summary: In this study, a high-performance Cu-1Cr-0.1Zr alloy with excellent electrical and mechanical properties, as well as good wear resistance, was successfully prepared by continuous extrusion forming and subsequent peak-aging treatment. The extrusion forming and aging treatment process provide a new and efficient method for the continuous preparation of Cu-Cr-Zr alloys.

Summary: Different thermo-mechanical treatment processes were studied on Cu-0.8Cr-0.1Zr alloy, and the optimal comprehensive performance was achieved through a three-stage drawing and thermal treatment. The morphology and distribution of the main phase can be regulated by solution treatment, thereby improving the strength of the alloy.

Chemisorption, diffusion and permeation of hydrogen isotopes in bcc bulk cr and cr(100) surface: First-principles dft simulations

Anil Boda et al.

Summary: In this study, the interaction and dynamical behaviors of hydrogen isotopes in bcc Cr lattice were investigated using density functional theory. It was found that the lighter H atom exhibits higher diffusion, permeability, and solubility compared to the heavier D and T atoms. The results obtained here may be helpful in designing suitable materials to prevent tritium permeation in the future.

Correlation between microstructure and mechanical properties in the age-hardenable Cu-Cr-Zr alloy

Kaushal Jha et al.

Summary: The study focused on ageing behavior of Cu-Cr-Zr alloy to determine peak ageing conditions and identify precipitates based on morphology, sizes, and distribution. The temperature dependent flow behavior was evaluated and the role of precipitates in strengthening and work hardening behavior of the alloy was examined through electron microscopy analysis.

Zr-containing precipitate evolution and its effect on the mechanical properties of Cu-Cr-Zr alloys

Yibo Du et al.

Summary: The Zr-containing precipitates in the Cu alloy first form coherent Zr-rich atomic clusters on the {111} crystal plane of copper during aging, which then transform into Cu5Zr phase as aging time increases. The contribution of Zr-rich atomic clusters and Cu5Zr precipitates to the yield strength of the alloy is calculated by coherency strengthening and Orowan strengthening, respectively. The total yield strength is very close to the experimentally measured strength.
