Anisotropic distortional hardening based on deviatoric stress invariants under non-associated flow rule

Qi Hu et al.

Summary: An anisotropic distortional hardening (ADH) model is developed under non-associated flow rule using the analytical asymmetric Yoon2014 yield criterion. The model incorporates Bauschinger effect, transient behavior, and nonlinear strain paths, and has been compared with kinematic hardening models to demonstrate its effectiveness and accuracy.

Mechanisms controlling ductility loss from abrupt Strain Path Changes in a low carbon steel

Anastasia Vrettou et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of Strain Path Changes (SPCs) on the mechanical properties and crystal-level features of deformation in a single phase, ferritic steel. The results show that abrupt strain paths significantly reduce ductility, and the pre-strain direction has a major influence on the macroscopic response and texture configuration. Increasing pre-strain magnitudes result in a stagnation of lattice strain hardening rates and a significant increase in Geometrically Necessary Dislocation (GND) densities. There is no correlation found between GND density and grain orientation, indicating that the initial texture and texture developed in pre-strain play a decisive role in determining ductility.

Investigation of evolving yield surfaces of dual-phase steels

Yong Hou et al.

Summary: This paper describes the evolving yield behavior of dual-phase steels during plastic deformation under various loading paths, using mechanical tests and digital image correlation techniques. Anisotropic yield criteria were applied to analyze the behavior of these steels, showing that non-associated flow rule significantly improved prediction accuracy of both stresses and r-values simultaneously. The evolution of yield stress and plastic potential surfaces of the steels was illustrated by changing parameters in the yield criterion.

Isogeometric Analysis and Bayesian Optimization on Efficient Weld Geometry Design for Remarkable Stress Concentration Reduction

Thein Lin Aung et al.

Summary: The study successfully developed an efficient design method by combining Isogeometric Analysis with shape optimization. The Bayesian Optimization algorithm was used to optimize the weld geometries, resulting in significantly reduced stress concentration in both cases.

Calibration of a strain path change model for a dual phase steel

Diane Herault et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the mechanical behavior and formability of dual phase steels under complex loading paths, as well as to calibrate a strain path change model. The use of the enhanced Homogeneous Anisotropic Hardening (e-HAH) model in experiments considers the influence of strain path changes on material behavior.

Evolution of plastic deformation behavior upon strain-path changes in an A6022-T4 Al alloy sheet

Takayuki Hama et al.

Summary: The study investigated the plastic deformation behavior of an A6022-T4 aluminum alloy sheet under various strain-path changes through experiments and numerical simulations. The results showed that plastic deformation temporarily deviates from the associated flow rule after abrupt-path changes but can be represented by the rule again with an increase in plastic work. Additionally, it was found that both the plastic strain rate direction θ and stress ratio qi tend to converge to certain values regardless of the strain path.
