Low-cycle fatigue behavior and life prediction of TA15 titanium alloy by crystal plasticity-based modelling

Yanxi Li et al.

Summary: This study developed a crystal plasticity finite element model based on realistic microstructure to predict the low-cycle fatigue behavior of TA15 titanium alloys with tri-modal microstructure. It was found that fatigue deformation tends to localize at the interfaces of ap/b, al/b and at triple junctions, leading to fatigue crack initiation. Additionally, the soft geometry of al contributes to strain localization inside al grains causing fatigue damage.

Microstructure and microtexture evolution of hot-rolled Ti-6321 alloy at different post-annealing temperatures

Yali Xu et al.

Summary: The microstructure and microtexture evolution of a near-alpha titanium alloy Ti-6321 during the post-annealing process were investigated. The results showed that the recrystallization, alpha grain globularization, coarsening, and phase transformation occurred, resulting in changes in macrozone sizes, morphologies, and texture components.

Understanding the mechanisms of texture evolution in an Mg-2Zn-1Ca alloy during cold rolling and annealing

Xinde Huang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the texture evolution of a Mg-Zn-Ca plate during cold rolling and subsequent annealing. It was found that basal slip was the main deformation mode and prismatic slip preserved the TD-split texture. Pyramidal slip caused the widening of the basal texture. Grain nucleation occurred at grain boundaries, deformation twins, and near precipitates, with minimal texture change.

Microstructural evolution and mechanical behaviour in the hot deformation of GH3128 alloy

Yongdi Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the microstructural evolution and mechanical behavior of the GH3128 alloy during hot deformation. The results show that the precipitation of the second phase in the grain boundary increases with temperature, and dynamic recrystallization occurs through twin-induced and particle-stimulated nucleation. The mechanical behavior varies with temperature, with a decrease in elongation and a change in fracture mechanism from ductile to ductile brittle fracture at higher temperatures. These findings provide a theoretical basis and guidance for the hot-working process of GH3128.

Effect of texture and mechanical anisotropy on flow behaviour in Ti-6Al-4V alloy under superplastic forming conditions

L. da Silva et al.

Summary: The study found that Ti-6Al-4V alloy exhibits crystallographic texture-dependent anisotropic flow behavior at 750 degrees C, but isotropic deformation at 900 degrees C. At lower temperatures, the presence of banded microstructure was identified as the main reason for anisotropy, while Rachinger grain boundary sliding was the dominant deformation mechanism at higher temperatures.

Analysis of anisotropy mechanism in the mechanical property of titanium alloy tube formed through hot flow forming

Zhenni Lei et al.

Summary: This study investigates the anisotropy of mechanical properties in titanium alloy tube components formed by hot flow forming. It reveals the differences in deformation mechanisms and fracture behaviors under different loading directions, and quantifies the characteristics of the property anisotropy. The results suggest that optimizing the texture and microstructure is critical to reduce the differences in slip, damage and fracture behavior along different directions and improve the service performance of the titanium alloy tube.
