Serum Antithyroglobulin Antibody Levels Are Associated with Diabetic Retinopathy among Euthyroid Type 2 Diabetes Patients: A Hospital-Based, Retrospective Study

Xiaotong Gao et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between thyroid indicators and the risk of diabetic retinopathy in euthyroid type 2 diabetes patients. The results showed that serum FT3 level was associated with the risk of mild NPDR, while TgAb positivity was significantly correlated with the risk of severe NPDR and PDR.

Low FT3/FT4 Ratio Is Linked to Poor Prognosis of Acute Myocardial Infarction in Euthyroid Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Xi He et al.

Summary: This observational study aimed to determine the relationship between free triiodothyronine (FT3) to free thyroxine (FT4) ratio and prognosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. The study found that a low FT3/FT4 ratio was independently associated with a higher incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) after AMI in T2DM patients, and the FT3/FT4 ratio had good predictive value for MACE.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the association between blood concentration of dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (DL-PCBs) and polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/DFs) and the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and thyroid cancer. The results showed a significant positive association between PCDD/DFs concentrations and both T2DM and thyroid cancer.

A high TSH level is associated with diabetic macular edema: a cross-sectional study of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Xi Cao et al.

Summary: This study identified the association between thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and diabetic macular edema (DME), and found that a high TSH level was an independent risk factor for DME. More attention should be given to the relationship between TSH levels and diabetic complications in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Association of Thyroid Hormone Levels with Microvascular Complications in Euthyroid Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients

Yonghui Hu et al.

Summary: The study examines the prevalence of different microvascular complications in euthyroid patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and investigates the association between thyroid hormones (THs) and these complications. The results show that serum free triiodothyronine (FT3) and free thyroxine (FT4) levels are negatively associated with microangiopathy, peripheral neuropathy (DPN), nephropathy (DN), and retinopathy (DR) in euthyroid T2DM patients, while thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels are positively associated with DPN. Further larger studies are needed to confirm these relationships.
