Troposphere-to-mesosphere microphysics of carbon dioxide ice clouds in a Mars Global Climate Model

A. Maattanen et al.

Summary: The study implemented full CO2 ice cloud microphysics into the LMD Mars Global Climate Model and conducted global simulations. The model results compared well with observations, reproducing the seasonal and latitudinal variability of CO2 ice clouds. The study also quantified the contribution of these clouds to surface CO2 ice deposits.

Transport of Water Into the Polar Regions of Mars Through Scavenging by CO2 Snowfall

N. R. Alsaeed et al.

Summary: The Martian water cycle is closely linked to the polar regions, particularly through the mechanism of CO2 snowfall. This study uses data and models to estimate that significant amounts of water are deposited onto the polar caps every winter, with around 10^9 - 10^10 kg in the north and 10^8 - 10^9 kg in the south.

The current weather and climate of Mars: 12 years of atmospheric monitoring by the Planetary Fourier Spectrometer on Mars Express

Marco Giuranna et al.

Summary: This study utilized thermal-infrared spectra from Mars Express Planetary Fourier Spectrometer to build a new dataset of atmospheric temperature profiles, surface temperatures, and optical depths of dust and water ice on Mars. The dataset covers over six Martian Years and provides insights into seasonal and latitudinal variations, as well as interannual variability in Martian climate. The study also reveals observations of daily cycles of dust and water ice opacity, offering new challenges to global circulation models and serving as a reference for future studies.
