Potential photo-switching sorbents for CO2 capture-A review

Yuanting Qiao et al.

Summary: Porous materials with photochromic units are being investigated for their potential applications in gas separation and storage, chemical sensing, and drug delivery. This review focuses on the use of photo-switching materials for CO2 capture and highlights different types of photo-responsive adsorbents and their applications. The key purpose is to inspire more research into photo-switching sorbents for CO2 capture with the ability to control capture or release by simply switching the light on and off.

Synthesis of Polycarboxylate Rhodium(II) Metal-Organic Polyhedra (MOPs) and their use as Building Blocks for Highly Connected Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs)

Thais Grancha et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of polycarboxylate cuboctahedral Rh-II-MOPs as building blocks for highly-connected MOFs. Functionalized MOPs were linked with metallic SBUs to form bimetallic MOFs with ftw (4,12)-c or rht (3,24)-c topologies.

Metal-organic cages for molecular separations

Dawei Zhang et al.

Summary: Metal-organic cages, formed via coordination-driven self-assembly, show great promise as separation agents by selectively binding and distinguishing substances in solution through precise control of their structure. The use of cages as absorbents or incorporation into polymer membranes can enhance the efficiency and selectivity of separation processes. Challenges and potential future developments in using metal-organic cages for separations are also discussed.

Porous Colloidal Hydrogels Formed by Coordination-Driven Self-Assembly of Charged Metal-Organic Polyhedra

Zaoming Wang et al.

Summary: Introduction of porosity into supramolecular gels endows soft materials with functionalities for molecular encapsulation, release, separation and conversion. Most of the materials can only be synthesized in organic solvents, and the examples of porous, MOP-based hydrogels are scarce. Gas sorption measurements confirmed the permanent porosity of the corresponding aerogels obtained from these MOP-based hydrogels, showing potentials for applications in gas sorption and catalysis.
