Wheat growth monitoring and yield estimation based on remote sensing data assimilation into the SAFY crop growth model

Chunyan Ma et al.

Summary: In this study, remote sensing data assimilation was used to estimate the leaf area index, biomass, and yield in wheat. The results showed high applicability of this method in crop monitoring and yield estimation, and it provided a reference for assimilating remote sensing data into crop growth models for regional crop monitoring and yield estimation.

Assessing the Yield of Wheat Using Satellite Remote Sensing-Based Machine Learning Algorithms and Simulation Modeling

Gowhar Meraj et al.

Summary: This study estimated the wheat acreage and yield in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, using satellite-based data and the CASA model. The results show that the RF classifier-based yield estimation is more accurate, and the CASA model can be used for estimating wheat net primary productivity and yield in the region.

Development of a Spatial Model for Soil Quality Assessment under Arid and Semi-Arid Conditions

Mohamed S. Shokr et al.

Summary: This study assessed the soil quality of El Fayoum depression in the Western Egyptian Desert using spatial modeling, showing six classes of soil quality and land capability classes. The results provide a replicable strategy for decision-makers in arid regions to ensure sustainable development.

Effect of Calcium Carbonate Particle Size on the Scratch Resistance of Rapid Alkyd-Based Wood Coatings

Orkun Ersoy et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of CaCO3 particle size on the scratch behavior of rapid alkyd-based wood coatings. Results showed that finer-grained CaCO3 particles experienced plastic plowing-type deformation, displaying high scratch resistance, while coatings using coarser-grained CaCO3 experienced more extensive plastic deformation due to weaker filler-polymer interface and breakage of larger coating pieces from the surface.

Quantitative Assessment of Environmental Sensitivity to Desertification Using the Modified MEDALUS Model in a Semiarid Area

Sayed Fakhreddin Afzali et al.

Summary: This study quantitatively evaluated the current desertification status in the Segzi Plain, Isfahan Province, Iran, using the modified MEDALUS model and GIS. Results showed that about 23.5% of the area is classified as high risk to desertification, and 76.5% classified as very high risk. Climate, vegetation, and groundwater quality were identified as the most important drivers for desertification in the study area, while erosion and soil indices were of minimal importance.

A GIS-Based Simulation Method for Regional Food Potential and Demand

Keyu Bao et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new food simulation workflow by extending an existing regional energy-water simulation platform to address regional food potential and demand towards holistically sustainable regional development. By extending the CityGML land use data model, the workflow simulates food potentials of vegetal and animal products, as well as food demand influenced by factors such as population change.
