Prophylactic vaccines, which are highly immunogenic and induce neutralizing antibodies, have been approved for targeting high-risk HPV types. The second generation of prophylactic vaccines, using alternative viral components and cost-effective production strategies, is currently under clinical evaluation.

Attitudes Toward HPV Vaccination in Sweden: A Survey Study

Summary: This survey study assesses attitudes toward the HPV vaccine in Sweden and explores the correlations between vaccine hesitancy and sociodemographic characteristics, trust in healthcare and other societal institutions, and evaluation of the reliability of different sources of information. The results indicate a positive attitude toward HPV vaccination overall, but a significant proportion of the population still exhibits vaccine hesitancy. Vaccine hesitancy is associated with low education and income, lack of trust in healthcare and societal institutions, and difficulties in accessing and evaluating vaccine information.

A qualitative study of parental associations and beliefs regarding the HPV vaccination for Dutch boys

Summary: While many EU/EEA countries have expanded HPV vaccination to boys, low and middle-income countries severely affected by HPV still face limited vaccine supply for girls. Global introduction of HPV vaccination is at 50%, with some LMICs with high cervical cancer burden lagging behind or having suboptimal coverage. WHO's call for cervical cancer elimination in 2018 is hindered by a predicted global shortage of HPV vaccines until at least 2024.

Human Papillomavirus Vaccine Efficacy and Effectiveness against Cancer

Summary: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection, with 15 HPV types related to various cancers. HPV vaccines have been proven to be safe and highly effective in preventing HPV infections and associated cancers, especially among young women. The different types of HPV vaccines have shown similar efficacy in protecting against certain HPV types, with the nonavalent vaccine offering additional protection against more types. HPV vaccination has also been shown to provide herd protection and reduce the prevalence of HPV-related cancers.

High prevalence of anal high-risk HPV infection among transwomen: estimates from a Brazilian RDS study

Summary: This study found that Brazilian transwomen in Rio de Janeiro have high rates of HPV and hr-HPV infections. HIV-positive transwomen and those with rectal Neisseria gonorrhoeae infections are more likely to have hr-HPV. Among HIV-positive transwomen, factors such as antiretroviral therapy use, undetectable viral load, and CD4 counts are not associated with anal hr-HPV infection.

Improving the Acceptability of Human Papillomavirus Vaccines Among Men Who Have Sex With Men According to the Associated Factors: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Summary: This study investigated the acceptability of HPV vaccination among MSM and found that factors such as education level, disclosure of sexual orientation to healthcare providers, prior vaccination history, awareness and knowledge of HPV, perceived susceptibility and severity of HPV infection can influence acceptance of HPV vaccines. However, individuals with risky sexual behaviors tend to have lower acceptance of HPV vaccines. HPV education should be targeted towards those with low academic qualifications and risky sexual behaviors, emphasizing the importance of susceptibility to and severity of HPV-related diseases.
