Clinical, serological and genetic predictors of response to immunotherapy in anti-IgLON5 disease

Thomas Grueter et al.

Summary: In a study of a large group of anti-IgLON5 disease patients, Gruter et al. found that early inflammatory CSF changes, subacute relapses, and HLA-DRB1*10:01 were associated with higher autoantibody levels, supporting the autoimmune nature of the disease. They also found that immunotherapy is effective if initiated early, before major neurodegeneration occurs.

Human CASPR2 Antibodies Reversibly Alter Memory and the CASPR2 Protein Complex

Bastien Joubert et al.

Summary: IgG antibodies associated with CASPR2 cause reversible memory impairment, inhibit the interaction of CASPR2/TAG1, and decrease the levels of CASPR2 and related proteins.

Encephalitis with Autoantibodies against the Glutamate Kainate Receptors GluK2

Jon Landa et al.

Summary: This study aimed to report the detection of antibodies against GluK2 in patients with autoimmune encephalitis and investigate the clinical-immunological features and antibody effects. Using various methods such as cell-based assays and immunoprecipitation, the study confirmed the specificity of GluK2 antibodies and their effects on GluK2 internalization and currents. The results suggest that GluK2-abs are associated with encephalitis with significant cerebellar involvement and their effects are mainly mediated by GluK2 internalization.
