Effects of Class C and Class F Fly Ash on Mechanical and Microstructural Behavior of Clay Soil-A Comparative Study

Canan Turan et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effects of class C and class F fly ash on the behavior and stabilization of clay soil in geotechnical engineering projects. The experimental results show that the addition of fly ash and the increase of curing days can improve the strength and permeability of the stabilized soil, while reducing the compression and swelling indices. Class C fly ash has better effects on the improvement of stabilized soil compared to class F fly ash.

Effect of fly ash on microstructural and resistance characteristics of dredged sediment stabilized with lime and cement

Ana Paula Furlan et al.

Summary: This study investigates the efficacy of combining fly ash (FA) with lime or cement, or both, in improving the properties of dredged sediment (DS). The results show that the use of FA leads to a refinement of the microstructure and reduction of macro porosity at early stages, while the long-term densification of the microstructure is attributed to the pozzolanic property of FA. DS stabilized with FA exhibit lower shrinkage and higher mechanical resistance compared to those without FA, especially when FA is mixed with cement.

Summary: This study examined the efficiency of fly ash stabilized soil when combined with enzymes and lime, finding that the stabilization effectiveness of fly ash can be significantly improved with the addition of enzymes and lime. The research offers a solution to enhance waste mitigation, save natural resources, and improve pavement stability.

Stability analysis of mine overburden dump stabilized with fly ash

Tarun Kumar Rajak et al.

Summary: Using fly ash to improve the stability of mine overburden dump slope is an effective method, with 10% addition of fly ash increasing the specific gravity and compressive strength values, while OB material mixed with 20% fly ash shows the maximum unconfined compressive strength.
