Summary: In this letter, a mobile edge computing (MEC) architecture assisted by digital twin (DT) is studied for industrial automation. The goal is to reduce end-to-end latency by intelligently offloading computing tasks from multiple Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices to multiple MEC servers. The proposed solution formulates the end-to-end latency minimization problem considering the constraints of quality-of-services and computation resources in industrial IoT networks. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in improving latency performance compared to conventional methods.

Summary: A technological gap in monitoring fruit quality evolution is causing waste in the food supply chain. Digital twin, as a virtual representation of real produce, shows promise in minimizing fruit waste by monitoring and predicting its status. This study presents a new approach to create a machine learning-based digital twin of banana fruit to monitor its quality changes during storage. The use of a thermal camera and deep convolutional neural network training have shown high accuracy in monitoring fruit status based on thermal information.

Summary: Aluminium metal matrix micro composites and nano composites are widely used in industries such as aerospace and marine due to their combined mechanical properties. Al7075 alloy, the hardest material, is challenging to machine using conventional methods. Water jet machining with abrasives flow technique is commonly used for machining intricate shapes of hard aluminium MMCs and MMNCs. The variables of the AJM process and their effects on kerf width and material removal rate (MRR) were explained through experiments and simulation for acceptable results. The study highlighted the influence of pressure and flow rate on kerf width, and the impact of stand-off distance and pressure on MRR.
