Preparation and characterization of Kaolinite supported lanthanum-hydroxide and its improvements for natural rubber composites

Sen Wu et al.

Summary: The successful preparation of kaolinite-supported lanthanum-hydroxide was achieved via a deposition method for enhancing the mechanical properties of natural rubber composite. Characterization techniques such as XRD, FT-IR, SEM, and TEM were used to analyze the composite, demonstrating successful loading of lanthanum-hydroxide on kaolinite with interaction on the surface hydroxyls. The resulting material showed improved tear strength, decreased scorch and curing time, and enhanced thermal stability, attributed to the fine dispersion of lamellar-like particles and improvements in the incorporation between rubber molecules and filler particles.

Achieving dendritic cell subset-specific targeting in vivo by site-directed conjugation of targeting antibodies to nanocarriers

Johanna Simon et al.

Summary: The major challenge in nanocarrier-based anti-cancer vaccination approaches is the targeted delivery of antigens and immunostimulatory agents to specific cells, such as dendritic cells, to induce strong anti-tumor responses. This study presents a surface functionalization strategy to attach antibodies onto nanocarriers, enabling specific targeting and avoiding non-specific uptake. The development of antibody-functionalized nanocarriers for dendritic cell-based vaccination in cancer immunotherapy is greatly facilitated by this novel conjugation technique.
