PT-112 Induces Mitochondrial Stress and Immunogenic Cell Death, Targeting Tumor Cells with Mitochondrial Deficiencies

Ruth Soler-Agesta et al.

Summary: PT-112 was found to induce immunogenic cell death in tumor cells, with increased sensitivity in cells with mitochondrial dysfunction and reliance on glycolysis. The mechanism of cell death induced by PT-112 involves autophagy and accumulation of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species. The findings suggest a potential relationship between stress response and immunogenic cell death in cancer cells.

Soluble Protein Hydrolysate Ameliorates Gastrointestinal Inflammation and Injury in 2,4,6-Trinitrobenzene Sulfonic Acid-Induced Colitis in Mice

Jingjing Wei et al.

Summary: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are chronic gastrointestinal diseases that greatly impact health and quality of life. current therapies do not provide a complete and permanent cure. This study investigated the effects of soluble protein hydrolysate (SPH) on gastrointestinal injury in a mouse model of colitis. The results showed that SPH treatment reduced disease activity index, colon tissue injury, and inflammatory cytokines, while increasing anti-inflammatory cytokines and anti-oxidative gene expression. These findings suggest that SPH may be a potential dietary intervention for IBD management.

Calreticulin and cancer

Summary: CALR is a protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum that plays important roles in cellular processes and protein folding. It acts as a chaperone in healthy cells, assisting protein folding and supporting Ca2+-dependent processes, while also being exposed on the cell surface in cancer cells to promote immunogenic cell death. Loss-of-functionCALRmutations can promote oncogenesis by impairing cellular homeostasis and compromising natural and therapy-driven immunosurveillance.
