Metabolic Phenotyping Predicts Gemcitabine and Cisplatin Chemosensitivity in Patients With Cholangiocarcinoma

Manida Suksawat et al.

Summary: This study used metabolomics to analyze the metabolic characteristics in tissues and sera of CCA patients, and identified predictive biomarkers for gemcitabine and cisplatin sensitivity. These biomarkers can not only predict chemotherapy response, but also minimize the adverse effects of chemotherapy.

Transcriptional landscape of cholangiocarcinoma revealed by weighted gene coexpression network analysis

Junyu Long et al.

Summary: By employing WGCNA method, this study analyzed gene expression profiles and clinical features of 36 CCA patients, identifying 1478 aberrantly expressed genes in CCA. Seven coexpression modules significantly correlated with clinical traits were identified, with green and blue modules showing significant association with tumor differentiation. Survival analysis revealed 17 hub genes as prognostic biomarkers for CCA patients.

Mapping of population disparities in the cholangiocarcinoma urinary metabolome

Munirah Alsaleh et al.

Summary: This study identified phenotypic diversity in urinary metabolomes of different geographical populations. Disparities in healthy metabolomes between two distinct populations were primarily related to differences in dietary practices and body composition, while metabolites excreted due to drug treatment were dominant in urine specimens from cholangiocarcinoma patients, particularly in Western individuals. Dysregulation in nucleotide metabolism associated with sporadic cholangiocarcinoma may indicate differences in mitochondrial energy production pathways between cholangiocarcinoma tumour subtypes, influenced by gut microbial community metabolism.

MetaboAnalyst 5.0: narrowing the gap between raw spectra and functional insights

Zhiqiang Pang et al.

Summary: MetaboAnalyst version 5.0 has been introduced to facilitate comprehensive metabolomics data analysis and interpretation, with the aim of narrowing the gap from raw data to functional insights. Three new modules have been developed to assist in this goal, along with various other new functions and improvements in interface, graphics, and codebase. Users can now easily switch between compatible modules for a streamlined data analysis experience.

Integration of global metabolomics and lipidomics approaches reveals the molecular mechanisms and the potential biomarkers for postoperative recurrence in early-stage cholangiocarcinoma

Sureerat Padthaisong et al.

Summary: The study found that metabolites related to energy metabolism are downregulated in recurrent CCA patients, while most lipids are upregulated. Additionally, CSC markers are associated with CD36 protein and recurrence-free survival. Citrate, sarcosine, and other substances were identified as good predictive markers for CCA recurrence.
